How to play
Draft League of Legends champions onto a football team, then play it out. Here's the whole game, from your first roll to a perfect 17–0 season.
Twenty-two champions, one team
Every team has 22 spots: 11 on offense and 11 on defense, laid out like a real football formation. You fill them with League of Legends champions, 173 to choose from, each rated at every position from their kit.
A fast assassin can run routes. A tank can hold the line. A mage with long range can throw it deep. Who goes where is up to you, and getting it right is the game.
The draft: roll, pick, place
- Roll. Two reels spin: a region (15 of them, from Demacia to the Void) and a role (Top, Jungle, Mid, Bot or Support). You're dealt the champions who match both, up to 6.
- Pick. Choose one. Their card shows their stats, their perks, and an item if Items are on.
- Place. Put them in any open spot. Spots are final, so think about who will end up beside them.
Two rerolls per draft: one for the region and one for the role. Use them when a roll has nothing you need.
Try it. Fiora is your pick. Each open spot on the field shows the diamonds she'd earn there. Tap one to place her.
Draft with Friends has no rolls: everyone picks from the whole pool, taking turns in a snake draft.
Pick your formation
Before you draft, pick a defense and an offense. They set the spots you fill and which of them carry the most weight.
In a 4-3, two defensive tackles anchor the run. In a 3-4, the nose tackle does, and the outside linebackers rush the passer. A fullback leads the run game; a slot receiver gives the passing game a third target. Neither is better: it's about the champions you build it with.
What wins games
Games are played unit against unit. Every drive is a pass or a run:
- Passing vs Pass rush and Coverage
- Your quarterback, receivers and tackles, against their edge rushers, outside linebackers, corners and safeties.
- Running vs Run D
- Your backs, guards and center, and your quarterback's legs, against the middle of their line and their inside linebackers.
Your offense leans on its better matchup, so one elite unit can carry a team, and a weak spot on defense gets attacked. The bigger the edge, the more drives end in touchdowns.
Not every spot counts the same. Your quarterback matters most, then your defensive ends and cornerbacks: save your best champions for them.
Some spots have more than one style: a pocket passer or a mobile QB, a speed back or a power back, a deep threat, a big target or a possession receiver. A champion only has to be great at one of them.
Reading a champion card
Every champion you're dealt comes as a card. Here's Camille with Sterak's Gage; hover or tap a stat, perk or item on it for more.

- 2Class: their League class, in solid badges.
- 3Perks, outlined: earned from their abilities, each adds to a stat.
- 4Item, when Items are on: a real League item that raises some stats.
- 5Stats: green is great, red is weak, and purple with an arrow is raised by their item.
The six stats
- Power (PWR)DEFBHBDTLBPower through contact. Runs over tacklers with the ball, and bursts past blockers to make the tackle or the sack on defense.
- Toughness (TGH)LBOLNTSFBDTHolding their ground. Anchors the line as a blocker, keeps a quarterback calm in the pocket, and plugs the middle against the run.
- Speed (SPD)HBWRCBQBDEOLBSPace and agility. Breaks away with the ball, beats defenders deep, and chases down or keeps up with whoever has it.
- Size (SIZ)OLDTNTFBDETEHBWRBody and strength. Wins the battle at the line on both sides, and the contested catch.
- Hands (HND)WRTECBHBCatching. Hauls in passes as a receiver, and turns them into interceptions in the secondary.
- Range (RNG)QBSWRReach. How far a quarterback can throw, and how much ground a receiver or safety covers downfield.
LB is every linebacker (ILB, MLB and OLB)OL is the whole line (LT, LG, C, RG and RT)
Chemistry
Champions next to each other on the field link up when they have something in common. A link fills diamonds above both of them:
- Same role (two Mid laners, two Supports…)
- Same region
- Same region and role
- A bond: a pair from League lore, like Garen & Lux (siblings)
Bonds are pairs from League lore: siblings, rivals, old partners, nemeses. There are 39 to find, and finding them is half the fun, so they aren't listed anywhere. Put a pair side by side and the game lets you know.
Each player holds up to 3 diamonds, and each one adds +2 to the stats that matter most at their spot. While you place a champion, open spots show the diamonds they'd earn there.
Items and perks
Turn on Items before a draft (the Daily Challenge always has them) and some champions you're dealt come with a real League item that raises their stats. Rare Prismatic items from Arena are stronger still.
Infinity Edge adds mostly Power.
Phantom Dancer adds Hands and Speed.
Warmog's Armor bulks a champion up.
Rapid Firecannon is one of the few that stretch Range.
Perks come from a champion's abilities. Each one adds to a stat:

- Big Hit+ PowerKnock-ups, knock-backs and hard engage

Game day
Once your team is full, it plays. A Solo Draft is a 17-game season, one game against each team in the league. Every game is a run of drives, each one your units against theirs, with some luck in the dice.
- 17–0Perfect season
- 14–16 winsTitle contender
- 11–13 winsPlayoff team
- 8–10 winsBubble team
- 5–7 winsRebuilding
- 0–4 winsTank for the #1 pick
The Daily Challenge is half a game: 11 drives against a CPU team's offense or defense, with a score already up. On offense days, outscore them; on defense days, hold them under it. Tied after 11? One more drive settles it. Everyone gets the same dice, so the difference is your draft.
Share a season as a card, or as a link friends can open to try to beat your team. A daily result shares as a spoiler-free grid, one square per drive.
Questions
Is 22CHAMPS free?
Yes. It's free to play in your browser, with no ads and nothing to buy.
Do I need an account?
No. There's nothing to sign up for. Your daily streak and your current draft are saved in your browser.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. It's built for phones as well as desktops, and you can add it to your home screen like an app.
When does the Daily Challenge reset?
At midnight Eastern Time, the same moment for everyone. There's one challenge a day and one try at it.
How are champions rated?
From their League kits: Riot's own ratings for damage, toughness, control, mobility and utility, plus their class, size and abilities, become six football stats. Every champion is then rated at every position.
How many people can draft together?
2 to 7 teams per room. Open seats go to CPU teams, and public drafts start on their own when the seats fill.
Is 22CHAMPS made by Riot Games?
No. It's an unofficial fan game, created under Riot Games' "Legal Jibber Jabber" policy using assets owned by Riot Games. Riot Games does not endorse or sponsor it.
Ways to play
Daily Challenge
Beat today's CPU team. Same rolls for everyone.
- A CPU team has its offense or defense on the field, with a score already up.
- You draft the other side: 11 picks, rolled, picked and placed as usual, with items on and the formation of your choice.
- Then 11 drives. On offense days, outscore them; on defense days, hold them under your score.
- Everyone gets the same rolls and the same dice, so it's all in the draft.
- One try a day. A new challenge comes out at midnight ET. Share your result (no spoilers) and keep your streak going.
Solo Draft
Chase the perfect season: 17–0.
- Pick your formation, and turn on Items if you want them.

- Share your team: friends who open the link can draft their own and try to beat your record.
Draft with Friends
A fantasy-style draft, then a league.
- Make a private room and share its code or link, or jump into a public draft. Rooms have 2 to 7 teams; open seats go to CPU teams.
